How to Get to Xojeli#
Xojeli (Khodzheyli) sits close to Nukus and is well connected by regional rail and marshrutka services. For international visitors the practical route is via Tashkent to Nukus, then a short onward trip to Xojeli.
Nukus International Airport (NCU): Nukus is the nearest regular commercial airport to Xojeli (also spelled Khodzheyli). Flights connect Nukus with Tashkent and other Uzbek cities; the drive or minibus from Nukus to Xojeli is roughly 30-40 minutes. Shared marshrutkas or taxis from Nukus airport typically cost a few thousand Uzbekistani soms (check current fares) and take about 30-45 minutes.
Tashkent International Airport (TAS): For international arrivals, fly into Tashkent and connect either by domestic flight to Nukus or by long-distance train; domestic flights and the Nukus connection are the faster option.
Train: Xojeli is a regional railway junction on routes connecting Nukus, Tashkent and other Karakalpakstan towns. Local trains and regional express services stop at Xojeli station (look for trains serving Nukus-Tashkent routes). Travel times vary greatly depending on service-Nukus is under an hour by road; by train it may be comparable.
Bus / Marshrutka: Regular marshrutkas and regional buses connect Xojeli with Nukus and nearby towns; travel times to Nukus around 30-60 minutes and fares are low (local currency). Buses and shared taxis are the most frequent local link.
