Zile City
Turkish city with historical significance
On a hill above the plains, Zile's castle and narrow stone streets draw visitors. Travelers come for the regional Tokat cuisine in small eateries, the bustling weekly bazaar, and nearby archaeological sites that map Anatolia’s layered history.
Why Visit Zile?#
Zile’s appeal lies in its long history and distinctive local produce: the hilltop Zile Castle dominates the skyline while Zile pekmezi (grape molasses) and regional breads are culinary signatures. Ottoman-era streets and a lively bazaar give a sense of daily life, and nearby pastoral landscapes invite slow exploration. Visitors interested in provincial history, traditional foods and castle views will find Zile quietly rewarding.
