Zakynthos (city) City
City in Ionian Islands, Greece with beaches
The island’s port hums with ferries, tavernas and fishermen hauling in cephalopods; travelers use the city as base for boat trips to Navagio, Caretta-caretta watching, Byzantine churches and hilltop views over olive groves.
Why Visit Zakynthos (city)?#
On Zakynthos island the port town blends lively island life with Ionian character: stroll Solomos Square, climb to Bochali for harbour views, and sample local sofrito, the island’s classic garlic-and-wine beef dish. Fishing boats and tavernas mean fresh seafood features on most menus, while Orthodox festivals and panigiria enliven the calendar with music and dance.
